About Us
Who We Are
SmartEarth Solutions is a Tanzanian AI and technology social enterprise. We build practical, science-based systems that transform climate and environmental data into tools that governments, conservation organisations, and communities can actually use. We are headquartered in Tanzania, and we build for Africa — with global ambition.
Our Vision
A future where no forest fire, flood, or climate disaster catches a community unprepared — because the right technology gave them the warning they needed, in time to act.
Our Mission
To develop scalable, responsible AI systems that protect people, forests, and ecosystems from climate-related risks — starting in Africa, growing globally.
Our Story
SmartEarth Solutions was born out of research. Our founder spent years studying forest fire patterns on Mount Kilimanjaro, working alongside rangers and communities who live with the consequences of fire every season. The question that drove the research was simple: what if we could warn people before a fire starts, not after? FirePredict was the answer. And SmartEarth Solutions was built to turn that answer into a lasting solution.

Why It Matters
Africa loses millions of hectares of forest to fire every year. These forests are not just trees — they are water towers, biodiversity reserves, carbon sinks, and the foundation of livelihoods for millions of people. When a forest burns, communities lose their water. Governments lose their carbon commitments. Species lose their habitat. We believe AI can change this — and we are building the systems to prove it.

Core Values
Scientific excellence
Every product we build is grounded in peer-reviewed research.
Responsible AI
Transparent systems, human oversight, and bias testing at every stage.
Built with communities
We co-design with the people who will use our systems.
Open innovation
We share what we can so others can build on our work.
Social enterprise
Profit serves the mission, not the other way around.
Tanzania and Africa First
SmartEarth Solutions is proudly Tanzanian. Our research is conducted at the University of Dodoma. Our data partners are Tanzanian institutions. Our first users are Tanzanian rangers and communities. We align with Tanzania Vision 2050 and Tanzania's national climate commitments — and we believe Africa should lead the world in AI solutions for African environmental challenges.
